Branching out

I thought of branching out in the crochet area. This is my first attempt of making some baby sized Mary Janes. I joined wrong somehow, and the opening turned out alot smaller that it should have. It still slides over my daughter's foot but just barely. I made this with some sock thread I bought because I like the verigation on the thread when it was wound up. I'm not really feeling it in actual use.

Current progress on the blanket. It's a little over 1/3 completed. So far I've used about 3 skeins of bamboo thread. It may be more or less, since I started by using up reclaimed thread from the Welcome Home blanket and the bits of tangled thread my son lovely left me. So I don't have an accurate measure of thread use. I did place a stitch marker on it where I joined to the newest ball of thread. At least this was I know exactly how far each one will go. I have four more balls set aside before I have to buy more. There's about 62 rows on it now
