I found a spanish video tutorial on how to crochet this. It's being made with size 10 Aunt Lydia's Bamboo Crochet thread. It's actually pretty simple to make, after you get through the first two "web" sections. Right now it's not very big and I think it will quickly grow to a size that'll fit my youngest daughter. It fits her larger 'baby' as a caplet already.
